Thick fog this morning would have made a pretty dangerous ride. Too depressed to ride inside. Excuses excuses!

It seems like forever since i had two days in a row of riding outside. Nothing major, but it’s a nice change to feel the resistance of actual wind. Looks like the temp will be ~60 tomorrow! Might attempt a quick morning ride before work.

My new Tech Fluid trainer finally arrived from Blackburn. Thanks again to the guys @ Easton, Bell Sports, Blackburn. I was getting sick of rollers & I even fell off them a few days ago. Lots of outdoor riding is just around the corner. Until then, I’ll try my best to wear this thing out. I’m feeling strong right now, but the true test will come in the next few weeks as I build more.

Since then...

2 more body pump classes later I think I might be getting the hang of it. I am thoroughly enjoying it and the pain it brings. I’m on the trainer now, then off to work in 45. Feeling pretty good and finally I think I’m done with illness for a while.
Snow is forecasted tomorrow morning into Saturday with significant accumulation. Mary is trying to get home to see her family tomorow night as well! Who knows, maybe we’ll be wearing shorts and tank tops tomorrow?! It is Indiana after all. Safe journey to anyone who will be traveling by car (or bike) in the next few days.

My girl is so beautiful. I love you, Mary!

Not usually a re-blogger, but do you blame me?!

Past week

The last week was unseasonably warm for Indiana. Sunday the 17th I rode ~45 miles on the road bike. 1 run and a trainer ride as well. This past Saturday I had spin class in the morning for 1 hour ~17 miles, then I suited up for an outdoor ride again and rode an additional 43 to make 60 miles for the day. Today (Wednesday) I went to a body pump class with Mary. Faced the sad realization that my girlfriend is stronger than me and I am not even remotely ashamed. I love her more each day and today it’s for being a little more badass than me!

These are the first 3 endurance races I’m looking at this year. The Mohican 100 is for sure. I’d like to do Cohutta if I feel ready, and not sure if I can get into the Lumberjack yet. More info to come soon. For the Indiana XC races I will race, go to www.dinoseries.com

Cohutta 100 Tennessee April 24 Mohican 100 Ohio June 5

Lumberjack 100 Michigan June 19

training was put on hold this week when I became I’ll. I have no idea what I had, but I would describe it as a little bit of everything. I don’t recover from sickness as fast as some, but did get back on the bike today for a relatively easy hour spin. The weather in Indiana has been pretty, but bitter cold! I’m still commuting to work, but that’s the only outdoor riding I see. For now…more trainer until the morning and weekend temps are a little above the single digits. In general, this week should be a little more productive than the last. Also, I haven’t forgotten about you Carlos! I will email you tomorrow as well as ship that HRM.

For those who don’t follow my girlfriend, Mary is running her 5th marathon on February 28th in Dublin, Ohio. She’s also been having recent leg and back pain that I hope will not put too much of a damper on her training. I would be complaining, but she has more drive than anyone I have ever met. Her year leading up to the Ironman will definately be a productive and exciting one. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
